Welcome to chandan.com, the website for my independent academic research and teaching, at the nascent Locust Walk Center for Policy Research, and formerly at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at Dartmouth College, where I was a visiting professor in the Department of Economics.
Apart from my principal research foci in commercial and residential real estate and the structure, regulation, and performance of mortgage debt markets, my academic work falls within the scope of public finance. My current research in this area deals with the private and public production, financing, efficient provision, and market valuation of housing, education, and local public services. The broad motivation for this research is an interest in applied development economics and the design of poverty policies, both in domestic settings and in developing economies. By way of background, I undertook my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and at Princeton University. My doctorate, conferred by Penn's Wharton School and supervised by esteemed economist Robert Inman (Wharton, Finance), is in Applied Economics. In addition to the doctorate, I hold a Master's in Engineering, a Master's in Applied Economics, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Public Policy. Thanks for visiting,
