Welcome.
Welcome to chandan.com, the website for my independent research and teaching activities.
Apart from my principal research foci in commercial and residential real estate and the structure, regulation, and performance of mortgage debt markets, my academic work falls within the scope of public finance. My current research in this area deals with the private and public production, financing, efficient provision, and market valuation of housing and localized public services. The broad motivation for this research is an interest in the design of public policy under conditions of both uncertainty and resource constraints.
By way of background, I am currently President and Chief Economist of Real Estate Econometrics, an economic and risk analytics firm based in New York City, and a member of the real estate faculty at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. I was Chief Economist at real estate data firm Reis, Inc. from 2003 until December 2008. Before joining Reis, I was based at the Wharton School and at Dartmouth College, where I was a visiting professor in the Department of Economics. I undertook my graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and at Princeton University. My doctorate, conferred by the Wharton School and supervised by Robert Inman (Vice Dean and Professor of Finance), is in Applied Economics.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance. Depending on my schedule, either I or someone from my team will reply promptly.
Thanks for visiting,
Sam
